Albus

When I was a young girl I was a whole hearted animal lover of all kinds =) I wanted to be a vet for the longest time. One very unfortunate day I was bitten by our family dog in the mouth and needless to say it scarred me terribly and I have an awful time getting close emotionally with dogs... I do however feel that if I were to have a puppy and he grew with us into his adult life that I would be less likely to feel scared towards him and have a very good loving emotional bond with him. =)

My love and I have been discussing becoming parents to a border collie puppy (male) for some time now who we will name Albus. I have been against getting a dog for two reasons, I currently live in an apartment and feel it might be a little unfair for a dog to live within such small quarters and without a back yard. Also, my love and I live separately for now until our marriage and I am unsure about having soon to be Albus solo in this house with his PAPA visiting on the weekends.

Oh what to do, what to do. We are both so very eager to get a puppy to love and care for....

  1. it might be a good idea to wait until after the two of you move in together.... so you both can enjoy and tackle the challenge of raising a lil pup together :) why a collie? you know pound puppies make great pets :)

  2. I agree, it might be best to wait till after the wedding as your pup will take up a lot of your time training and loving ur new family member:) I too had the same thoughts as u about having a dog in an apartment but you learn to adjust and will be spending quality time taking ur dog for walks 3-5 times a day. My babies will be turning 11years old this year, it's been the best 11 years having these sweet souls in my life. Lots of responsibility as I'm sure you r aware but so worth it. My only advice, I grew up only with female dogs and when I came across the dog that I fell in love with(who is my best friend, sweet snuggler) happened to be a "male" dog. Although I didn't care what the sex of the dog was I now have learned they are a bit harder to train in respect to potty training. My lil boy is so wonderful But we have had an ongoing issue with him marking territory in the house(peeing up curtains or up table legs :/) other than that sooooo worth the time and love u put into and get back from ur baby:) best decision I made and couldn't imagine how my life would have been without them(I bought him a friend a couple of months after because I felt sad he might feel lonely). I too lived in an apartment all these years, it is now I finally have been able to give them a home with a yard. Which is fabulous -but I miss our walks. I hope this helps:) best decision I've made in life!! They will be ur best friend and provide with the most amazing unconditional love:-)
